We just recorded our latest radio show and the topic was Finding Passion. It was, I think our best radio show to date and it will go out June 1st. In this show we gave out 10 strategies for Rekindling your passion for work and here they are:
- Remember why you wanted the job in the first place. What were your priorities and goals at that time? Hopes? Dreams? Make a list and keep it in front of you as a reminder.
- Make a list of all the positive things you can think of about your job, your company and your coworkers. Again it’s a great reminder of what an amazing opportunity you have to find passion.
- Keep your life balanced. If your life revolves around work and something goes wrong on the job and you feel your whole life is falling apart, then you are putting too much passion into your work. Take a break, take a breath, and remember you are an amazing person who deserves the very best from your life.
- Do not despair. Think of setbacks as a beginning instead of an end. This is really important because life is full of ups and downs. The great things to think about if you are in despair, is that life will bring you up again. There are great things just around the corner. Reach for a better feeling thought and see how everything will open up for you in an amazing way.
- Use positive self-talk. Visualize your success. Affirm your day in the morning. Look into the mirror and say, “I am amazing!” Because you are!
- Let go of things over which you have no influence or control This is a great strategy. Why hold on to things that don’t bring you joy in your life? Let it go.
- Face problems head on rather than ignoring them and letting them grow. Have passion about clearing up your debt, and or, letting go of grievances and worries. They don’t serve you any purpose except to give you gray hair and wrinkles.
- Ask to be a part of a special project or team, or to mentor someone. This is a great way to find passion and joy in your life. Give to others.
- Embrace change as a welcome new challenge instead of something to dread. If you are living—then you will have noticed that change is part of life. Everything changes all the time. Embrace it, love it, look forward to change with passion. It’s going to happen anyhow so why not make the very best of it and emerge as the new you….amazing and wonderful.
- Think of inexpensive, easy ways to make your workplace more pleasant. This is a good one for spring and summer. Get rid of anything that you do not need. Don’t hold onto things just because they are there. Replace old, worn out things with something new. Again, make it inexpensive…remember you are paying off all your credit cards!
