Hi ,

Super Service and The Winner’s Attitude are all about giving you  a Successful Living Strategy so that you can live the life you were always meant to live, and that means being happy, healthy, wealthy and full of joy. Today’s newsletter is about Taking Charge of Your Life. This Successful Living Strategy will help you stop repeating bad habits while creating new ones to improve your life in ways you couldn’t even start to imagine.

How do you do that?

Well it’s really simple. Every time you feel angry, upset, unhappy or depressed, it means you are in your animal brain. Remember the animal brain is all about survival. It’s there to help us survive which if you are in a dark alley in the middle of the night, is a good thing. But most of the time we are not living in dark alleys, we are living and working in safe places and we don’t have to be in survival mode.

When you switch to your human brain you are coming from acceptance, love, joy, happiness, all the ways of being that come from an evolving human being instead of the human animal.

Taking Charge of Your Life is about taking charge of the three main areas of your life: your past, your present and your future. Everyone has had things happen in their past that they don’t like—that they wish hadn’t happened. When you Take Charge of Your Life, you can let all those things go. Learn from them, and then let them go. And when something triggers that unhappy event—just let it go. Don’t feed it with more thoughts about it, don’t allow yourself to go into your animal brain.

Taking Charge of Your Life is about living in the moment. It’s no good making great plans, setting wonderful intentions and having amazing goals if in the everyday little moments of your life you are angry, miserable and upset. The way that you are in the small, every day moments of your life is exactly how you will be when you reach your goal. If you are unhappy in the small moments of your life, you will be unhappy when success strikes down the road.

So how do we Take Charge of the small moments of our lives?

1) Switch to your human brain and have the thoughts, feelings and actions that allow you to evolve as the amazing human being that you already are.

2) Connect to your feelings. If you feel negative thoughts and are angry, depressed or upset, you know that you are in your animal brain.

3) Reach for a better feeling thought. It doesn’t matter how bad you feel, how depressed or angry you are, when you reach for a thought that makes you feel just a little bit better, you automatically switch to your human brain and the human being is once again in control.

Here’s some other tips that we talked about on the radio show called “Take Charge of Your Life.”

1. Refuse to play the victim no matter how bad things seem to get. And you do this by seeing yourself as having power over the most difficult circumstances.

This is back to reaching for a better feeling thought. If you feel like a victim and you continue to have thoughts that a victim would have…like feeling that you have no power, that you are not in control, that you have no responsibility for the situation, that you are just a small cog in a large machine…then you will continue to feel like a victim, not only that, your victim feeling will grow.

When you switch to your human brain and reach for a thought that is just a little bit better, a little bit lighter, you start to feel more power over yourself. You start to take charge of your thoughts, of your feelings and more importantly your role in life. You only have to reach for a small better feeling thought for you to go from victim to winner.

2.  Educate yourself about yourself. The best education you can have about yourself is about the animal brain and the human brain and the Reticular Activating System, or Switch as we call it. Your feelings are transmitted to your brain. If you feel bad it switches on the animal brain and if you don’t Take Charge, it will just keep you in a negative feeling space. If you Take Charge, “I don’t feel great. I am in my animal brain, I am going to switch to my human brain. How do I do that? I reach for a better feeling thought…” And boom—just by taking that one small action, you switch to your human brain and you immediately feel better.

3. Challenge the experts no matter who they are. Challenge counselors, doctors, or any other kind of expert who might know something about your difficulty. Make sure you are in your human brain when you challenge them. Don’t come from your angry, survival mode animal brain—you will just get their back up. Remember Law of Attraction—that which is likened to itself is drawn. If you are angry, you will just attract anger. If you are accepting you will attract acceptance. If you are peaceful you will attract peace.

4. Become a participant in the solution to the problem you face. Taking Charge of Your Life is about being a space not a case! It’s the small, everyday little things that make up your character. Every time you reach for a thought that feels better, every time you make a decision based on how good it makes you feel, then you are being a participant in the solution…instead of a participant in the problem.

It’s like trying to clear your mind of all your animal brain survival thoughts. Like stepping into a shower and getting clean again, that means not being held captive by past thoughts upsets miseries, so you have washed yourself clean of your past and we have to keep doing that on a regular basis, the animal brain is in survival mode it doesn’t want you to forget those things—its there to protect you from the horrible things that have happened and it will invent things to keep you there. The longer you are unhappy and in bed it doesn’t have to worry. A human being wants to climb Everest we thrive on being great on pushing ourselves and going the extra mile. The animal hates that.

It’s cleansing yourself of those thoughts so you can be open and amazing to new adventures. And don’t take life so seriously. Have some humor because there is nothing going on, we are about as important as an ant in an ant hill. What little footprint will I leave on this planet will it be a footprint of worry and upset or will it be a footprint of love and giving?

If you look at things that happened in the past and you look at where you are today there is no comparison –If you look back it is laughable. This too shall pass.

We’ve been bankrupt nearly twice. Had difficult times in our marriage—where is that now? It’s all in the past. It’s the same with all of us, what is gone is gone. It has nothing to do with you now, so you can forget the whole thing and carry on.

Finally, use forgiveness to send you rocketing to a higher level of being.

  • Forgive yourself
  • Forgive the other person
  • Give the other person permission to forgive you

Here’s a little exercise I use for forgiveness. I imagine the person in front of me and in my mind I say to them, “Please forgive me for anything I have knowingly or unknowingly done to hurt you. I forgive you for anything you have knowingly or unknowingly done to hurt me.”
Even though you have not actually spoken the words to the person, something magical happens. I’ve done it—it works!

Taking Charge of Your Life is about connecting with your feelings and being honest with yourself and others. When you say what you are feeling other people can connect with you, because you are not saying what is wrong, or what is wrong with them, or what you want to have happen, you are starting from a feeling space which is honest to you, “I am feeling this way….”

Rock N Roll

Jeff
